Orchard Street completes significant letting to DFS at Chelmsford Industrial Estate
Orchard Street Investment Management (‘Orchard Street’), the specialist commercial property investment manager, has completed a complex asset management initiative to convert a former leisure operator into a thriving distribution unit, transforming Chelmsford Industrial Estate into a wholly logistics-focused asset. Orchard Street took early surrender of a 36,423 sq ft unit, obtained planning permission for a change of use, and undertook a significant refurbishment and reconfiguration of the unit for warehousing and distribution purposes in order to secure a new 10 year lease with DFS, the furniture retailer.

Much of this was helped by overseas buyers and a weak Sterling, which remained 10% on average below pre-referendum lev- els.
