Charles Lam, Managing Director, joined BPEA in 2011. Mr Lam was previously the Managing Director, Greater China for Pramerica Real Estate Investors, a subsidiary of Prudential US and one of the largest real estate investors in the world. Mr Lam opened its Hong Kong office in September 2007, starting with six professionals responsible for real estate acquisition as well as asset management in Greater China. During his four-year stay with PREI Mr Lam completed a large number of real estate investments, refinancing and disposition projects in China and in Hong Kong. Mr Lam was previously the Director, Head of Real Estate Investment for China Ping An Trust and Investment Co, Limited, the investment arm of the Ping An Insurance Group headquartered in Shenzhen, China, where he spearheaded the real estate investment business for the company. Since joining Ping An in 2005, Mr Lam was responsible for investing in hard assets and development projects across China and built an acquisition and asset management team of 15 professionals. Prior to his employment with Ping An, Mr Lam was an Associate Director of AIG Global Real Estate Investment (Asia) based in Hong Kong, where he identified, analysed, negotiated, structured and closed real estate investment and financing deals in Greater China and South Korea. Mr Lam joined AIG in 1998 and remained there until 2005, during which time he worked on several high profile and financially successful structured debt and equity programs focused on Greater China and South Korea. Before joining AIG, Mr Lam was with the Hong Kong office of The John Buck Company (a Chicago-based real estate development and investment firm) from 1995 to 1997 as an Associate Director for the company’s real estate business in Asia. Mr Lam began his real estate career with Sun Hung Kai Properties Group of Hong Kong in 1992 with a major focus in China real estate projects. Mr Lam received an MBA in Finance from Cleveland State University, Ohio, US. Mr. Lam is a CFA charter holder and a professional member of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS). He is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
