Our vision and beliefs

The Fund’s investment strategy is to buy and hold a diverse range of European, mid-market infrastructure assets with the aim of providing consistent and sustainable risk-adjusted total returns comprising a significant inflation-linked yield across economic cycles. Geographic focus is on European OECD countries. Key sectors include energy, utilities, transportation, social, telecommunications, and digital.

At the heart of our investment philosophy and portfolio construction are the proprietary infrastructure investment and portfolio construction framework built around three core elements: Operational, Macro, Sustainability (OMS) and integrated into each step of the investment process.

O: Operational levers and active asset management to ensure the assets we invest in continue to grow over time, working closely with management teams to protect capital and unlock latent value

M: Dynamic portfolio construction to build diversification across key macroeconomic variables and control performance volatility through economic cycles.

S: Sustainability integration and engagement to ensure our assets are well-governed and positioned to both manage the risks and challenges inherent in long-term infrastructure investments and create positive impact.

Investment process and research

The Fund’s investment strategy is underpinned by its proprietary infrastructure investment and portfolio construction framework, OMS, developed in recognition of the fact that infrastructure is a diverse asset class with a wide variety of underlying individual investment characteristics that need to be systematically considered. It forms the basis of the Fund’s investment selection, decision-making and post-acquisition asset management and is integrated at each stage of a typical investment process.

The primary objective in developing and adopting the OMS approach, was to facilitate an investment style that achieves key portfolio characteristics typically sought by investors: low correlation to broader economic cycles, positive correlation with inflation, strong capital preservation and consistent, non-cyclical risk-adjusted returns including a significant yield component.

We follow a systematic approach to portfolio construction and diversification, which we believe enables us to deliver consistent total returns and recurrent yields in accordance with the Fund objectives.

Our sustainability focus brings additional asset selection considerations in the sense that each asset has to bring a positive environmental and/or social contribution, and there are certain restrictions based on ESG grounds.
