Investment principles & strategy
For over 35 years, Jamestown has been investing in primary markets across the United States. The firm attributes its successful track record to a two-pronged approach. First, as an operator Jamestown utilises proven value creation strategies such as cutting expenses, converting basement, second-storey and loading-dock space to retail and buying out below-market leases. Secondly, Jamestown has consistently shown discipline when buying and selling assets. For example, in an 18-month period starting in 2006, Jamestown was an aggressive seller of real estate. After performing a hold/sell analysis on each asset, Jamestown sold 73% of its core and core-plus portfolio between the second quarter of 2006 and the first quarter of 2007.

Strategic corporate development
Jamestown’s open-end core-plus fund with a focus on premier office, retail and mixed-use assets in major US metropolitan centres seeks to generate attractive risk-adjusted returns through a combination of stable cash yield and long-term capital appreciation driven by a focus on growing NOI.

Jamestown’s timber platform acquires, owns, operates, and sells core timberland properties in the US located in prime timber markets which are managed primarily for timber production.

In Latin America, Jamestown targets major metropolitan areas that exhibit sound real estate fundamentals and prospects for long-term economic growth, with a primary focus on Colombia, Peru, Chile and a secondary focus on Argentina.
