João Teixeira

João Teixeira is a Partner and is responsible for the firm’s Brazilian investments and the São Paulo office and is a member of the General Partner’s US and Brazil Funds Investment Committees.

Mr. Teixeira’s experience in the real estate industry began in 1984. For the seven years prior to joining GTIS, Mr. Teixeira was the owner and principal of Investcorp Gestão de Investimentos Imobiliários, a real estate invest-ment advisory firm with an equity participation model. Before launching his own firm, Mr. Teixeira was the Executive Vice President responsible for all residential and office developments at Birmann, then one of the top five real estate development firms in São Paulo. During his 12 years at Birmann S.A., Mr. Teixeira was instrumental in developing several Class A office buildings in São Paulo, including regional headquarters for Chase Manhattan, Deutsche Bank, FedEx, J.P. Morgan and Microsoft, as well as multiple residential developments including more than 15 buildings in the pioneering upscale condominium project, Panamby. While at Bir-mann S.A., Mr. Teixeira managed Parlnvest, an investment joint venture with Credit Suisse First Boston dedicated to Brazilian real estate, and was responsible for successful developments in Argentina and Chile. Mr. Teixeira spent the initial six years of his career at Brascan, where he was responsible for the completion of more than 10 million square feet of residential space in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

Mr. Teixeira studied engineering, business administration and urban plan-ning at the University of São Paulo, receiving a graduate degree in Civil Engineering in 1982 (POLIUSP) and a Masters degree in Urban Planning (FAUUSP).
