US-China trade tensions ratchet up

The US has set in motion a further round of protectionist measures on China. Although these measures are not conducive to global trade, equity market jitters are more reflective of fears of escalation than a response to the actual impact on corporate bottom lines. Political posturing means President Trump will probably keep up his protectionist rhetoric, creating more volatility, but there are grounds to be positive on China.
