Blog | Oil rally weighs on decarbonization-focused strategies

Configured to filter out environmentally and societally harmful products and business activities, regional FTSE Global Choice indexes lost traction amid the recent rallies in fossil-fuel and basic-material stocks, modestly lagging in the global equity-market retreat over the past few months.

In a reversal from their outperformances last year, most developed-market Choice indexes (except Europe) are now underperforming their respective benchmarks for the past 12 months, a period of mid-to high-teen percentage gains for the broad UK, US and European markets. The setback has been most pronounced in emerging markets, where Choice index losses exceeded those of the benchmark for the 12 months, despite its late February rebound.
